There is a an Ayurvedic Proverb - "When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.”

Lahore: As a part of the ‘Health Campaign”, Beaconhouse Garden Town Campus, Primary School organized an interschool Health Lunch Video-making contest; "Food, Set Go". 14 campuses across the country participated in this competition.

Students had to unveil the importance of healthy meals and share their ideas in the form of a video and a clear picture of a home-cooked scrumptious healthy food recipe along with its nutritional facts. Students of grade 5 had to manage the activity without any parental help. In the first round, the videos had to be sent to the host school. Out of 14 campuses, our brilliant young chef from Walton was shortlisted amongst the top 6. The final round was conducted live in a virtual session where the esteemed judges questioned the students.

It is a pleasure to announce that Khadija Zaka of V Silver secured the 1st position. She had made a Tortilla Sandwich with grilled Broccoli along with Watermelon juice. She explained the importance of fruit, grilled chicken and vegetables. Khadija also explained in the live session how the tortilla can be exchanged with whole wheat tortilla or homemade bread for an even healthier meal keeping in mind the food pyramid.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The first wealth is health.” Keeping in mind these words, it was a pleasure to see how conscious and well aware our young student was while choosing the perfect recipe for the competition.

A special thanks to her parents for their cooperation in being there to provide her with the required ingredients and submission of the video on time. The process of editing and ensuring to fulfill the required time limit to keep it within 2 minutes was yet another process that was done diligently in collaboration with the Science teacher.

Khadija worked hard for her victory. She ensured that she chose the correct recipe, followed the required guidelines, submitted the handwritten, error-free recipe card, and topped it with a PowerPoint Presentation hence coming out victorious.
