There is a Swedish proverb - "Those who wish to sing always find a song.”

Lahore: Beaconhouse Johar Town Girls Campus hosted an Inter-School Singing Competition “Malika e Taranum Noor Jahan”. It was a virtual competition for grade IV and V students held in March. The participants from grade 5 had to send in a solo video up to 3 minutes long singing a song from a list of 20 songs shared by the host school sung by the queen of melody; Madam Noor Jahan.

It was very rightly said and I quote the Express Tribune from 2012- A legend like Noor Jehan need not be born again because she will live forever in the hearts of many.

This competition brought back a few of her songs that are embedded in the hearts of her fans forever.

Our young student from V Green - Abeeha Tariq won the 1st Prize. She sang the ever euphonic song; 'Sada hoon apnay pyaar ki'. Our young nightingale tried to follow the footsteps of Madam and secured the top position out of numerous entries. Our young, budding singer of tomorrow was spot on the criteria for;

  • Voice Quality
  • Rhythm
  • Melody
  • Pronunciation
  • Confidence/ Performance

Abeeha has a beautiful and a very melodious voice and we see her with a very bright future in terms of singing if she wants to take it up as a passion or as a hobby in the upcoming years.

You chose the toughest song to sing . . . . and you worked it out. Randy Jackson

Keep shining and keep singing.
