Islamabad: The All-Pakistan Under-19 National Debates were held at Aitchison College from November 7 to November 10. Some 50 schools from all over the country including top institutions from Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot were invited to participate in this prestigious tournament.

After a hiatus of over a decade, a team from BMI was also part of this year's competition. After three days of intense debating, the BMI team surpassed all expectations and was ranked third in the country with four wins and no losses, and was one of only four teams that remained undefeated in the preliminary stages of the competition.

The key purpose of the tournament was to identify the top 20 individual speakers in the country who would comprise a shortlist for the Pakistan National Under-19 Debating Team. All three speakers from BMI made it to the shortlist, a feat that no other school has accomplished in the last four years.

The three BMI speakers were Asfandyar Khan (ranked 5th), Umair Ahmed (ranked 14th) and Shehryar Khan (ranked 19th). All three will now compete for the coveted green blazer and the chance to represent Pakistan at the World Schools Under-19 Debating Championship to be held in Thailand later this year.

Well done, boys!
