Abbottabad: The Senior Year students displayed their artistic talents in the 'Art for Peace' campaign held at Beaconhouse Abbottabad Campus on September 4. The programme started at 10.30am, after the chief guests Jamal Shah, a legendary actor and artist, and M. Waheed Zaffar, a well-known film producer and the character designer for The Sesame Street, arrived. They were presented with bouquets upon their arrival by the students of Grade XI Cambridge. Secretary General Alumni, Youth and Health Activist Dr Ehsan Naveed Irfan arrived later.

After the show formally started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, the two chief guests were invited on to the stage. "Art is a form of harmony. I believe our potent youth can paint their thoughts, literally, to show us how serene they really are," said Mr Jamal Shah. Mr Waheed Zaffar said, "Our students, our youth, need a way to express themselves – by talking, by moving, by doing. We thought, why not introduce Art for Peace so that they can express themselves in the most positive and creative way?"

The programme then proceeded with students expressing themselves confidently and with passion during a speech competition. Singers, as young as 12 years old, were given a chance to show their talents.

"What I enjoyed the most was the role play by Grade X," said Talha Zulfiqar, a student of Grade VIII. "They got their point across (terrorism will consume us all if we breed it) while making the play enjoyable and hilarious at the same time!"

With the audience enjoyed the thought-provoking speeches and plays, the Art for Peace segment was being held simultaneously. Around 30 students were given a portion of a large white wall. With vivid colours and bold strokes, the students painted their feelings and created masterpieces. The younger students of Grades VI and VII painted posters to promote harmony.
